To provide current and relevant information regarding seniors housing resources, and supports that contribute to successful aging.

The organization consists of experts in the field of seniors housing and resources who are also passionate individuals that care about older adults. The CSHFS acts as a hub for seniors to enable them to make informed decisions on housing and other issues.

Meet Our Team

Cathy Hume,

Principle Cathy Hume Consulting

With passion, Cathy's senior living career spans over the last 30+ years. Her focus has been on creating positive and rewarding experiences within the senior housing and healthcare sector. Challenging conventional stereotypes of aging, she believes forward thinking organizations can evolve into innovators, creative catalysts and provide something extraordinary. Innovation drives transformation. For over 11 years through Cathy Hume Consulting she has worked with small local groups and larger national organizations to reach their strategic planning goals.

Lilian Jourieh, Vice-President

Lilian is a natural leader, who takes great pride in seeing her team overachieve. She demonstrates collaboration, strategic thinking, and resiliency, which results in great success for those who are lucky enough to work with her. She has the ability to motivate stakeholders towards a common goal. Lilian is an award-winning business owner of Smashdoor Marketing and is the co-owner of Airdrie Music Lessons. She has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Damascus, and additionally Marketing and Business Selling from SAIT.

Thao McConnell, Treasurer

Thao is a highly accomplished Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) with over 15 years of experience. Her financial expertise is multifaceted, with experience spanning auditing, real estate, and the public sector. Notably, she served as a board member for Silvera for Seniors. In her current role within the commercial real estate industry, Thao focuses on financial planning and analysis, supporting key functions including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.

Patricia Wozak, Secretary

Assistant to Housing/Personal Decision Making Kerby Centre

Since 2010 Patty has been a committed member of CSHFS through her position with Unison at Kerby Centre. Currently she is the Seniors Service Advisor with a housing specialty that spans a decade of local knowledge. Patty is known for her incredible wealth of housing knowledge and passion for assisting older adults to have access to sage and affordable housing options. Patty is a natural advocate on social issues confronting low-income seniors and the need for high quality housing and services for older adults

Ralph Hubele, Founding member + Advisor

Senior Manager Health and Housing Initiatives Government of Alberta

Ralph is the Senior Manager, Health and Housing Initiatives, Government of Alberta. As a founder and an advisor to our board, his knowledge and creative spirit is felt throughout our work. He is respected for his incredible wealth of knowledge and talent. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Sociology and Education, a master’s degree in environmental design, and an advanced certificate in Gerontology. During his career, he has been involved in the development and delivery of several provincial programs that have helped to create a variety of affordable housing options for seniors in Alberta. He is also involved in the creation of affordable continuing care capacity throughout the province. He remains committed to the idea of offering senior households as many housing choices as possible as they age.

Carrie Erickson, Site Manager Covenant Living Canada

Carrie is the Director of Programs at Alzheimer Calgary, where she leads the organization’s programs and services supporting people living with dementia, care partners, and professionals. She brings over 20 years of experience in seniors care, retirement living, and community-based services, with leadership experience spanning operations management, marketing and sales, and program development. Carrie is passionate about innovation, systems change, and building inclusive communities that support people to live well. She holds a Certificate in Strategic Management from the University of Calgary and a degree in Recreation Therapy from the University of Alberta. Carrie believes in lifelong learning, meaningful engagement, and access to programs and services that reflect each person’s strengths, abilities, and interests.

Danielle Girodat, Board Member.

Danielle is an experienced sales manager and marketing administrator with a demonstrated history of working in the senior housing and hospitality industry. She is a strong sales professional with a bachelor’s degree focused on marketing/marketing management from The University of Lethbridge. She is a highly skilled and knowledgeable senior housing profession within the entire housing continuum.

Tracy Brunt, Board Member

Before she started her career in an industry serving seniors, Tracy worked in variety of sales and customer service-focused roles, and has been acknowledged for her relationship building skills and her ability to align people with solutions to fit their needs. When she began her business as a franchisee with Heart to Home in 2016, she channelled those skills into serving seniors in Calgary and Southern Alberta. For Tracy and her team it’s more than delivering food it's about making a basic need more accessible and ensuring a greater quality of life for the senior community.

Shannon Galon, Lawyer, and Trust Consultant at Scotia Wealth Management

Born and raised in Calgary, Shannon holds a Bachelor of Science in Zoology and a Juris Doctor from the University of Calgary. She began her legal career at a prominent international law firm, where she practiced corporate and commercial law and worked on multi-million-dollar transactions. She later transitioned into a wills and estates practice, advising clients on estate planning and administration, probate matters, real estate considerations, and tax planning. In 2019, Shannon further expanded her expertise by completing a Master’s degree in Professional Accounting and Financial Planning in Australia and is currently pursuing her STEP designation through STEP Canada, with completion expected in 2027.

Shannon is passionate about giving back to her community and is actively involved with several women’s boards, as well as initiatives supporting the seniors community.

Bukola Ojemakinde, External Advisor

Bukola is a chemical engineer by profession and is also very passionate about women and senior issues. She is the executive director of Bridge to Oasis. Bukola recently founded Bridge to Oasis to cater to the needs of the Black and African seniors and is also the president. Bridge to Oasis is ensuring that all seniors of diverse backgrounds have the correct supports and access to housing, information, and general resources they need to be successful.
